At Minamisanriku 311 Memorial, we are hosting a traveling exhibition of “The Trilogy of Prayer,” a collection of embroidery artworks by embroidery artist Mayumi Hoshino, from November 1 (Sun) to November 15 (Sun), 2026.
Completed over five years, this collection consists of three works created with prayers for “Hope,” “Reconstruction,” and “Rebirth.”
Exhibited Works
“Dance of Heaven”〈Hope〉
“Resilience – Thousand-Armed Kannon”〈Reconstruction〉
“Phoenix”〈Rebirth〉
Through these artworks, visitors can reflect on the journey of recovery following the earthquake and thoughts for the future.
The exhibition also features “Four Guardian Deities Embroidered Temari Balls,” in which the Four Guardian Deities, traditionally believed to protect the four cardinal directions of Japan, are embroidered onto temari balls measuring 40 cm in diameter.
We invite you to visit the exhibition and appreciate these delicate and intricate works of embroidery.
