②Young staff walking around the town – May 3rd (Sat) to May 6th (Tue) –
The "Town Walking Storytelling" program continues to enjoy perennial popularity. After graduating from a local high school and undergoing a year of work-related training, a 19-year-old young man will make his debut as a storyteller. What did the young boy, who was just 4 years old at the time, think and feel when he saw his hometown devastated? What was life like after the disaster and what was student life like? Please listen to the stories of the disaster told by young people that you don't usually have the chance to hear. He is a serious person who gets nervous easily, so I would be happy if participants would talk to him.
Reservations can be made here ↓ ↓ ↓ or by phone.

From a young staff member
"This is my first time as a storyteller, so I may not be very familiar with it, but I will do my best to pass on the story of the Great East Japan Earthquake to future generations!"
③Shizugawa Landscape – 1979 – Time Slip Photo Exhibition
(The photo exhibition will be held from May 1st (Thurs) to July 7th (Mon))
It was in 1979. Yoshitaka Shoji, who was a member of the photography club at university at the time, visited the old Shizugawa town on the occasion of the full opening of the JR Kesennuma Line, and took photos of the townscape at that time. The year 2025 corresponds to the 100th year of the Showa era. Why not take a trip back in time to the nostalgic Showa era of Shizugawa town?

④Let's read together! "Tsunami Picture Book"
A picture book by Mayumi Kudo of Kaminoyama Hachimangu Shrine in the Shizugawa area, about the tsunami that the children saw during the disaster, their hometowns that have changed, and the disaster as felt by children, will be on special display during the period. Please pick up a copy and take a look with your family.
⑤Let's think about it! "Disaster Prevention Picture Book Corner"
We will be exhibiting picture books about earthquakes, tsunamis and disaster prevention in the book corner during the event. We will also have picture books that children can read, so please read them and think about them!
We look forward to seeing you there!!
