The Meiji Sanriku Earthquake occurred on June 15, 1986 (Meiji 29). Just 30 minutes after the earthquake, a tsunami struck the Shizugawa and Utatsu areas of Minamisanriku Town, resulting in many casualties. The damage caused by the Meiji Sanriku tsunami is depicted in pictures in Fuzoku Gaho. With the cooperation of the Rias Ark Museum of Art, we present pictures from Fuzoku Gaho of the Kesennuma and Minamisanriku areas.
