
At Minamisanriku 311 Memorial, to mark the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake,
Exhibitions and related events
We will be holding an event titled "Looking back on 15 years since 3.11: Minamisanriku Town's story of memory and rebirth."
This project has been ongoing in Minamisanriku Town since 2010.
Centered around the "Minamisanriku Kiriko Project,"
Memories of life before the disaster, losses caused by the disaster, and the path to recovery.
This is an exhibition that communicates through white paper cutting, "Kiriko."
At the venue, there were artworks based on the lives and stories of each resident.
Approximately 100 "Minna no Kiriko" pieces will be on display.
The stories contained in the kiriko quietly tell the story of the people who have lived in Minami Sanriku.

During the event,
A talk event " Looking back on that day " featuring former Minamisanriku Mayor Jin Sato,
There will also be a reading concert titled " Minamisanriku Town: A Story of Memory and Rebirth, " where stories will be told through reading and guitar.
Also, on Saturday, March 7th,
The Minami Sanriku Tourism and Product Fair will be held, selling Minami Sanriku wine, canned goods, indigo dyeing, wooden products, and more .
It will be a day where you can experience the charm of Minami Sanriku along with the exhibition.


In addition, related videos will be screened continuously throughout the event.
Including a documentary that records the progress of the Minamisanriku Kiriko Project,
Documentary footage of 20 years since the merger of Minamisanriku Town,
Through the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial introduction video,
You can see the story of Minamisanriku from before the earthquake to the present and into the future.
15 years have passed since the earthquake.

We look back on the event through kiriko, images, and words.
