At that time, an earthquake occurred off the coast of Chile in South America, causing a tsunami that reached the Sanriku coast, with many casualties in the Shizugawa district of Minamisanriku Town.

This experience of disaster became the basis for Minamisanriku Town's disaster prevention plan before the Great East Japan Earthquake.

This project aims to teach and consider how to prepare to protect lives, based on the lessons learned from natural disasters, which occur repeatedly and cause unexpected damage.

We look forward to seeing you there.
