The Minamisanriku 311 Memorial will be holding a special event called the Disaster Prevention Quiz Rally from Saturday, July 5, 2025, where participants can learn about the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and disaster prevention knowledge while having fun.
The Minamisanriku 311 Memorial, which opened in October 2022, features exhibits that encourage visitors to think about "How would you think and act if you were in that situation?" through display banners summarizing the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and learning program experiences based on interviews with affected townspeople.
The "Disaster Prevention Quiz Rally" being held this time is an event where children can learn about disaster prevention while having fun by walking around the town around the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial!
The quiz includes questions about the height of the tsunami that hit Minamisanriku Town at the time of the disaster, how long it would take for lifelines to be restored, and disaster prevention, and can be used to learn about the Great East Japan Earthquake. At the same time, the content can also teach about preparing for future natural disasters.
Those who answer all questions correctly will receive limited edition original goods!
In addition, elementary and junior high school students who participate in the quiz rally and answer all the questions can take the learning program free of charge.
