On October 1, 2024, the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial will mark its second anniversary since its opening.
Since its opening on October 1, 2022, over 230,000 people have visited the facility and approximately 30,000 people have participated in learning programs. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you.
More than 13 years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and during that time various natural disasters have occurred across Japan.
Learning the facts and lessons learned from past disasters and thinking about them as personal issues will lead to future disaster prevention and mitigation.
The Minamisanriku 311 Memorial will continue to convey the facts, experiences, and lessons learned from Minamisanriku Town, which experienced the earthquake and tsunami, and will continue to provide an opportunity for people to think about how they would make decisions and act if they were faced with a natural disaster.
All our staff look forward to welcoming many of you to our facility in the future.
