[Announcement] FY2025 Water Knowledge Lecture: "Preparing for Heavy Rain and Tsunamis and Community Development - How to Deal with Natural Disasters"

Jin Sato, special advisor to the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial, will be appearing as a lecturer at the public lecture "Water Knowledge Lecture" sponsored by Miyagi Prefecture.


◇What is the "Chisui Course"?◇

This public lecture has been held every year since 2004 to provide residents of the prefecture with an opportunity to learn about the prefecture's river administration and to think together about the future direction of river administration.


As mayor of Minamisanriku Town, which suffered devastating damage from the Great East Japan Earthquake, Mr. Sato has been at the forefront of reconstruction efforts, applying the lessons learned from the disaster to disaster prevention, mitigation, and community development. In this lecture, he will talk about disaster prevention, mitigation, leadership, and community development, with the theme of "Minamisanriku Town: Creative Recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake."
Additionally, Osaki Mayor Yasushi Ito will give a lecture on "Building a Flood-Resistant City," providing a multifaceted look at how to prepare for natural disasters such as heavy rain and tsunamis.
