Last year, kiriko were exhibited inside the Memorial Hall, but this year, as part of the "Minamisanriku Kiriko for Everyone" Project, kiriko will also be exhibited at various shops and businesses within Minamisanriku town.
This "Minamisanriku Minna no Kiriko Project" was started in the summer of 2010 by the town's Industrial Promotion Division (at the time) together with the volunteer group ENVISI as part of an effort to revitalize tourism from a women's perspective. ( For more information, please click here .)
This project has continued even after the Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2024, with the cooperation of everyone in the town, we will exhibit the kiriko that have been made so far.
We have also prepared original maps to help visitors get around the exhibits. The maps are available for distribution at the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial Hall and at each exhibit location.
Why not take a "Kiriko Walk" in Minami Sanriku, map in hand, exploring the town's memories?
