At the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial, folktale storytelling by members of the Shizugawa Folktale Society is held on the third Thursday of every month.

The two stories he will be talking about in June are "The Legend of Kamiwarizaki" and "The Eyes of Lake Biwa-bosatsu." (planned)

Minamisanriku Town is known as the "Tono of Miyagi" as it has a wealth of folk tales passed down through the generations.

Even those who live in the town may discover something new, such as the origins of familiar place names and locations, or unexpected stories about familiar places.
