On Saturday, May 6th, the number of visitors to the Minamisanriku 311 Memorial reached 200,000.
Since its opening on October 1, 2022, we have had many visitors from within Miyagi Prefecture and from Japan and abroad every day. Once again, all of our staff would like to express our sincere gratitude to you.
The 200,000th visitor was the family of Mr. Watanabe from Yamagata City. This was their first visit to Minamisanriku Town, and they had come to the memorial after enjoying a stay at the Kamiwarizaki Campground the previous day.
A commemorative gift was presented by the memorial and staff gave a tour of the facility.
As the Earthquake Memorial Museum, we will continue to convey what we can do to protect lives from natural disasters. We look forward to seeing you all there in the future.
